The new Direct Drive continuous twist head TCF-DD has been designed and developed by Breton to provide its Matrix range of machining centres with maximum milling performance and flexibility in use for machining steel and light alloy. The forked structure manufactured in cast-iron, a material which ensures maximum rigidity, stability and vibration damping capacity, even for intensive production cycles, is a design feature of axis A ideal for undercutting in a - 105° working range + 120°. Axis C continuous rotation not only facilities complex machining operations, but also offers greater quality in surface finish by avoiding continuous downtimes due to head repositioning which normally occurs when axis C has a limited rotation. Powerful hydraulic brakes with a brake torque up to 6,000 Nm, make this system ideal for both high-speed rough milling and high-precision finishing operations with axes A and C locked in position at any angle within their working range. Thanks to the direct drives and encoders mounted on the axes, the head offers maximum precision and rigidity combined with a high rotation speed reaching 100 rpm for axis C and 50 rpm for axis A. The high performing direct drive head substantially increases overall machine performance for continuous 5 axis machining operations. - www.machinetools.tv
