VIDÉO REPORTAGE: UK SUBS groupe Anglais orchestré par Charlie HARPER icône du PUNK. A 66 ans, le musicien continue de fournir l'impréssionnante discographie des UK SUBS. Violent State, son 22 ème album, n'est autre qu'un live enregistré à LILLE avec line-up officiel. Malgré son âge de grand-père paisible, Charlie HARPER tient la scène avec l'expérience de trois décennies dans le PUNK mondial. Grand respect à cette homme. Au début, le groupe se nommait les UK Subversives, mais il changa de nom pour des raisons pratiques. À l'origine, le groupe se composait de Charlie Harper (chant), Nicky Garrett (guitare), Pete Davies (batterie) et Paul Slack (guitare basse. Charlie, le chanteur, avant de jouer avec les UK Subs, avait fait partie de la scène pub-rock britannique.Toutefois, le style musical des UK Subs étaient assez semblable à des groupes tels que Sham 69, Stiff Little Fingers ou The Vibrators(doctor felgood,eddie and the hot rods ,lurkers). De plus, le groupe combinait l'énergie du punk et du rock and roll de la scène pub rock britannique............................................................................................... ................................................................................................................. Rapidement, le groupe connu du succès avec la sortie des singles "Warhead", "I Live in a Car" et "Tomorrow's Girls". Plusieurs de leurs chansons entrèrent dans le Top quatre au Royaume-Uni. Leur succès atteignit son apogée en 1980, avec la sortie de leur album le plus vendu: Crash Course...................................................................... ................................................................................................................. Puis, dans les années 80, avec l'arrivée de leur nouveau bassiste, Alvin Gibbs et du batteur Steve Roberts leurs chansons subirent beaucoup d'influence heavy metal. De plus, dès 1983, les membres du groupes ne cessèrent de se succéder. Par conséquent, le groupe devint connu pour cela. Donc, tandis que la popularité des UK Subs n'avait cessé de croître jusqu'alors, celle-ci se mise à diminuer de plus en plus à cause des changements continuels de personnels........ ................................................................................................................. Des dizaines et des dizaines de musiciens se succédèrent, avec notamment Lars Frederiksen (qui partit rejoindre Rancid), Tezz Roberts (Discharge, Ministry), Karl Morris (The Exploited) ou encore Knox (Vibrators). Bref d'un album à l'autre, d'une tournée à l'autre et pire encore d'une date de concert à l'autre, les membres différaient continuellement. Le seule qui demeura présent depuis la formation du groupe en 1976, fut le chanteur-leader Charlie Harper (qui eut 60 ans en 2005)................................................................................................... ................................................................................................................. Toutefois, depuis 2004, la seconde formation classique de membres (1980-1982) s'est reformé: Charlie Harper (chant), Nicky Garratt (guitare), Alvin Gibbs (guitare basse, ex-Iggy Pop), en plus du jeune Jason Willer à la batterie. Cette formation c'est d'ailleurs reformée régulièrement depuis 1997...................................................................... ................................................................................................................. Aussi,en 2004, les UK Subs ont fait une tournée Européenne, puis une tournée d'adieu aux États-Unis. Puis, en octobre 2005, ils ont également sorti un album live, "Violent State", sur le label français Combat Rock.......................................................................................... ................................................................................................................. Par ailleurs, malgré ses nombreux changements de personnel, le groupe n'a jamais cessé de donner des concerts, durant toutes ces années. De plus, les UK Subs ne se sont jamais éteints, devenant ainsi un des rares groupes survivants de l'ère du punk britannique de la fin des années 70................................................................................ ................................................................................................................. Whistleblowers: UK Jobcentres Tricking the Vulnerable... to Save Money and Meet Government Targets - April 5, 2011 Jobcentres 'tricking' people out of benefits to cut costs, says whistleblower. Soaring number of sanctions against unemployed amid claims that DWP staff are being told to trip people up with paperwork. Rising numbers of vulnerable jobseekers are being tricked into losing benefits amid growing pressure to meet welfare targets, a Jobcentre Plus adviser has told the Guardian. A whistleblower said staff at his jobcentre were given targets of three people a week to refer for sanctions, where benefits are removed for up to six months. He said it was part of a "culture change" since last summer that had led to competition between advisers, teams and regional offices. "Suddenly you're not helping somebody into sustainable employment, which is what you're employed to do," he said. "You're looking for ways to trick your customers into 'not looking for work'. You come up with many ways. I've seen dyslexic customers given written job searches, and when they don't produce them -- what a surprise -- they're sanctioned. The only target that anyone seems to care about is stopping people's money. "'Saving the public purse' is the catchphrase that is used in our office ... It is drummed home all the time -- you're saving the public purse. Feel good about stopping someone's money, you've just saved your own pocket. Its a joke." The claims came as the big businesses handed contracts to get the long term jobless into worktoday said the government should privatise jobcentres so that their firms could work with people who have been jobless for less than a year. Statistics from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) show the total number of cases where people have lost their benefits has soared since the beginning of 2010 to 75,000 in October, the latest month available. The figures also reveal the number of claimants with registered disabilities being cut off has more than doubled to almost 20,000 over the same period. This follows a change in the rules in April last year where sanctions were extended to claimants who were late for jobcentre interviews and other less serious offences. When a claimant is sanctioned their jobseeker's allowance is stopped. They then have to apply for hardship payments, which are usually about half the allowance, or just over £30 a week. John, in Wigan, has been sanctioned for six months and says he has to rely on food parcels and must sleep on his friend's couch. "It's left me in a state of depression.
