Biographie de Vincent Price : Né le 27 mai 1911 à Saint-Louis dans le Missouri, il se passionne pour l'histoire de l'art, ce qui l'amène, après ses études à Yale, en Angleterre, où il étudie aux Beaux Arts et monte sur scène dès 1935, avant de devenir une vedette à Broadway. Son physique de dandy inquiétant, à la voix caressante apparaît dans Laura d'Otto Preminger (1944), avant de devenir un acteur emblématique de films d'horreur, sous la direction récurrente de Roger Corman (La Chute de la Maison Usher, Le Corbeau, L'Empire de la Terreur, ...), mais également d'André De Toth dans le mémorable L'Homme au masque de cire (House of wax, 1953), qui fut le premier film en 3D. Il apparaît sous les traits du Cardinal de Richelieu dans l'adaptation des Trois Mousquetaires de George Sidney (1948, aux côtés de Gene Kelly). Acteur indissociable du cinéma d'épouvante, il incarne L'Abominable Docteur Phibes de Robert Fuest (1971) et quelques films d'horreur anglais comme Théâtre de sang de Douglas Hickox (1973), à la lisière de l'autoparodie. Il prête sa voix au court-métrage hommage, Vincent, que lui consacre Tim Burton (qui lui donnera l'un de ses derniers rôles dans Edward aux mains d'argent en 1990).

Biographie Vincent Price (suite) : En 1975, il prête sa voix à l'album Welcome To My Nightmare de Alice Cooper pour la chanson Black Widow et apparaît régulièrement sur scène lors de ses concerts: il s'agira de la première contribution du cinéma d'horreur avec le rock. On retrouve sa voix envoûtante dans la chanson "Thriller" de Rod Temperton (1982), interprétée par Michael Jackson, ainsi que dans le morceau "The Number of The Beast" d' Iron Maiden la même année. Sa voix figure également dans la chanson "And When he Falleth" du groupe de gothic metal Theatre of Tragedy. La chanson, en effet, reprend plusieurs extraits de dialogues du film the Masque of the Red Death Dans les années 1990, il prêtera sa voix pour la scénographie de la célèbre attraction Phantom Manor du parc Disneyland Paris Grand collectionneur d'art contemporain, il a consacré plusieurs ouvrages à sa passion. Il meurt d'un cancer du poumon à Los Angeles, le 25 octobre 1993. Tim Burton, qui s'était lié d'amitié avec lui, prétendra qu'il s'était en fait laissé mourir de tristesse suite au décès de sa femme un an auparavant. Une fin gothique, semblable à celle des personnages qu'il a incarné durant sa carrière... Le chanteur Wednesday 13 lui rend hommage dans sa chanson The Ghost Of Vincent Price en 2005.

un film que j'ai particulierement apprécié autant pour l'histoire que pour son coté "tres esthétique", (car certaines scenes de ce film sont "comme des peintures mouvantes"!!) je vous le recommande!!
