Au lycée, ils ont malheureusement été séparés mais cela ne les a pas empéché de continuer à se voir. Dans leur nouvel établissement où ils se retrouvent, les deux premiers adolescents font la connaissance de Kazutoshi Sakurai. Tous les quatre décident, en 1988, de former un groupe de musique; originellement appelé The Walls. Ce n'est qu'un an plus tard que le nom deviendra Mr. Children. En 1992, sortent enfin leurs deux premiers albums : Everything et Kind of Love. Mais le succès viendra réellement grâce à la sortie du single Cross Road en 1993, qui se révèle être la chanson thème d'une série télévisée du moment. Ce dernier se vendra à plus d'un million d'exemplaires. En 1995, il reçoivent le Nihon Record Taishou Grand Prize pour récompenser la vente de Innocent World dans l'archipel, qui s'est écoulé à près de deux millions d'exemplaires. Par la suite, chacun de leurs albums se vendra aux alentours du même nombre; ceci confirmant que Mr. Children a décidement de beaux jours devant lui. Kakurenbo Trailer

Il s'agit là de la première œuvre en 3D de Shuhei Morita le réalisateur de Freedom. D'une durée de 30 minutes nous suivons les aventures de jeunes enfants jouant à un jeu de cache-cache dans un quartier étrange d'une mégalopole japonaise. Histoire fantastique, Kakurenbo mélange une modernité surprenante a une culture ancestrale des mythes et yokai (monstres) japonais. Ce conte moderne ne laisse pas indifférent et démontre le potentiel de Shuhei Morita dans la réalisation d'animation en 3D.

En profitant du succès des AKB48 le producteur Yasushi Akimoto a décidé de créer un nouveau groupe à Nagoya, les SKE48 (le diminutif du quartier de Sakae) pour que les gens de la province puissent eux aussi profité des spectacles. Pour leurs débuts, les SKE48 ont repris les chansons de leur ainées. Ses demoiselles peuvent compter sur deux anciennes membres des Research Students des AKB48 : Deguchi Aki et Nakanishi Yuka.
