Meanwhile, the vaccine has to date never been tested in pregnant women and is known to have adverse outcomes in the offspring of treated rats. Clinical trials on pregnat women were SUSPENDED because the women developed fever, which is known to affect fetal development. In the second study, there was an increased incidence of post-implantation loss, and the fetal variation of dilated ureter. Not all findings were observed in both studies, and hence the toxicological significance is uncertain."
