Justice - UK: Lawful Rebellion - Roger Hayes challenges Liverpool City Council, Birkenhead - March 7, 2011 "Wirral Council is taking Roger Hayes to Birkenhead county court for non-payment of council tax. Mr Hayes, chairman of The British Constitution Group, claims the council tax is illegal and imposed without his consent. His stand has won support from all over the country, and demonstrators travelled miles to protest outside the court building. But, as judge Michael Peake tried to get the case under way, Mr Hayes repeatedly demanded whether he was "on oath of office". Judge Peake insisted it was a "properly constituted court", and said if Mr Hayes had a complaint it was an issue he could take up later. But Mr Hayes again asked if he was on oath of office and when he did not get an answer he was happy with, said: "Sir, I am obliged to arrest you for contempt of court and treason." Two supporters of Mr Hayes then attempted to make the arrest but were stopped by police." Hommage à Isaac Hayes: Mort d’Isaac Hayes, légende de la soul music Il avait connu la gloire en signant la bande originale du film Shaft. L’auteur-compositeur, l’un des grands noms de la soul, a été retrouvé mort à son domicile. Il avait 65 ans. Génial autodidacte, Isaac Hayes, très jeune orphelin, a appris seul la musique. A 5 ans, il découvre le chant, le piano, le saxophone. Il commence sa carrière de musicien dans les clubs de Memphis. En 1962, Isaac Hayes n’a que 20 ans, mais il enregistre déjà son premier disque. A la fin des années 60, le musicien s’associe avec David Porter. Le duo connaît le succès avec des titres tels que Hold On I’m Comin, Soul Man et When Something Is Wrong With My Baby. En 1971, c’est l’apogée de sa carrière : il signe le thème musical de Shaft, l’un des films phares du genre "blaxploitation" et énorme succès populaire. Cette création est couronnée aux Grammy Awards et aux Oscars. Par la suite, Isaac Hayes compose d’autres bandes originales de films, comme Tough Guys et Truck Turner. En 2000, 29 ans après la sortie du film original, il accepte de retravailler sur une nouvelle version de la musique de Shaft, à l’occasion du tournage du remake. Les plus jeunes générations le connaissent peut-être pour avoir prêté sa voix à Chef, l’un des personnages du dessin animé South Park. Le musicien, âgé de 65 ans, a été retrouvé inconscient à son domicile, puis transféré d’urgence à l’hôpital où son décès a été prononcé.
