Rose Laurens - Africa
Rose Laurens, de son vrai nom Rose Podwojny, est une chanteuse (auteur, compositrice et interprète) française, née en 1953. Rose Laurens n'a pas vingt ans lorsqu'elle débute en chanson au sein du groupe Sandrose, en 1972. La formation, dont Rose est la chanteuse officielle, donne dans le rock progressif français et ne lancera qu'un seul album sur le marché. Les membres vont se séparer au bout d'un an et de quelques concerts donnés à Paris. Rose, qui porte toujours son nom d'origine, décide de prendre le pseudonyme de Rose Merryl, et lance en 1976 et 1977 une poignée de 45 tours, sans succès. Elle fait alors la rencontre du compositeur et musicien Jean-Pierre Goussaud dont elle tombe amoureuse, et le couple décide de travailler ensemble. Goussaud qui, au fil de sa carrière, travaillera avec Nicole Croisille (La Garonne, Emma ), Fabienne Thibeault (Chaleur humaine), Dalida (Confidences sur la fréquence) et Céline Dion (Mon rêve de toujours) notamment, devient donc le compositeur attitré de Rose Laurens (le nom qu'elle prendra alors définitivement en 1979), et presque toutes les musiques de la chanteuse seront signées par lui. Le premier succès de Rose sur une musique de Jean-Pierre est la chanson Survivre, lancée en 1979. L'année suivante, en 1980, Rose Laurens a le bonheur d'être choisie par Robert Hossein pour interpréter sur scène comme sur disque le rôle de Fantine dans la tragédie musicale Les Misérables de Victor Hugo, dont les textes sont signés par Alain Boublil sur des musiques de Claude-Michel Schönberg. Il n'en faut pas plus pour que le grand public fasse la connaissance de cette voix puissante et unique dans le monde de la chanson française. Après plus d'un an à se retrouver dans la peau de Fantine, Rose veut approfondir sa carrière solo. Jean-Pierre et elle travaillent donc ensemble à préparer le tout premier album de la chanteuse. Ce dernier, qui porte le titre de Déraisonnable, voit le jour en 1982. Le succès du premier extrait, la fameuse chanson Africa, est immédiat, et le titre se vend à plus d'un million d'exemplaires. Ce premier album contient aussi les chansons suivantes : Conversation, La différence, Le roi fou, Mon père, Déraisonnable et surtout Le cœur chagrin qui sera un bon succès radiophonique au Québec. Dès l'année suivante, en 1983, Rose enregistre un deuxième album qui se signale par les chansons Vivre, Zodiacale, T'envoles pas sans moi et surtout Mamy Yoko qui, sans égaler le record de Africa, va connaître un bon succès. En demande dans les pays anglophones, Rose grave pour eux en 1984 le microsillon Africa - Voodoo Master qui comporte quelques titres originaux en plus de versions anglophones des succès Africa et Mamy Yoko. La chanteuse poursuit à ce rythme avec les chansons Danse-moi et Cheyenne, lancées celles-là en 1985. En 1986, Rose Laurens s'associe à de grands noms pour travailler sur son album qui paraît cette année-là. Jean-Pierre Goussaud signe évidemment toutes les musiques, mais les textes sont écrits par le grand Francis Cabrel (Quand tu pars), par Yves Simon (J'étais au rendez-vous, Partir, Profession reporter, Night and Day), ainsi que par Sylvain Lebel (Cherche), Marc Strawzynski (Je me jette à l'eau) et Yves Duteil (Écris ta vie sur moi, chanson superbe qui devient le titre de l'album). Rose Laurens sort elle-même son papier et son crayon pour écrire "La nuit". L'album contient de nombreux succès, et il consolide la carrière de Rose tant au Québec qu'en Europe, et même aux États-Unis où l'artiste lance American love, la version anglaise de Quand tu pars. Elle profite de son succès pour se produire plusieurs soirs à l'Olympia de Paris en 1986. L'année suivante, en 1987, tout va pour le mieux pour Rose qui connaît un bon succès avec la très touchante chanson Où vont tous ceux qu'on aime ?. Malheureusement, elle a tôt fait d'apprendre que son compagnon Jean-Pierre Goussaud est atteint du cancer... Elle stoppe tout et décide d'abandonner sa carrière afin de demeurer auprès de son conjoint. Ce n'est que trois ans plus tard que Rose Laurens revient à son métier. Goussaud, malgré sa maladie, a en effet insisté pour composer un dernier album à la jolie chanteuse. Ce sera le meilleur disque de Rose, le plus personnel, le plus abouti. Lancé en 1990, l'album J'te prêterai jamais possède à nouveau la griffe de Francis Cabrel (voix dans la chanson P'tit frère) ainsi que celle de Jean-Jacques Goldman (L'absence). Sinon, les textes de toutes les autres chansons sont de Rose Laurens elle-même. Peu de temps après la parution de l'album, Jean-Pierre décède. Rose, dévastée, complète ses engagements, va au Québec pour la promotion d'une compilation qui paraît là-bas, puis disparaît du show-biz pendant quatre ans. On ne la retrouve qu'une seule fois sur disque, en 1994 alors qu'elle chante en duo avec Yves Duteil (sur l'album de celui-ci intitulé Entre elles et moi) la chanson Écris ta vie sur moi. Elle revient en 1995 avec l'album Envie qui ne connaît pas le succès, et ce malgré des chansons signées Louis Chedid et/ou Jacques Cardona (Nous c'est fou, Mais où sont les anges ?...). Elle écrit elle-même, paroles et musique, la chanson Jonathan s'en va ce soir, puis se retire à nouveau pendant plusieurs années. Ce n'est qu'en 2001 qu'on la retrouve sur scène et sur disque grâce à François Valéry et sa comédie musicale L'ombre d'un géant. Depuis, elle sillonne la France pour donner des concerts, et participe à la tournée RFM Party 80 en 2007 et 2008. Actuellement elle travaille à la réalisation d'un nouvel album en collaboration avec Pierre Palmade. L'hymne officiel de la Coupe du Monde de Football 2010 (FIFA World Cup) sera le titre Waka Waka (This time for Africa pour la version anglaise et Esto Es Africa pour la version espagnole) interprété par Shakira et le groupe Sud-Africain Freshlyground. Le titre sera envoyé en radio fin avril et disponible en téléchargement légal le 11 mai. La chanson figurera également sur l'album "Listen Up: The Official 2010 FIFA World Cup Album" qui sortira le 31 mai 2010 avec plusieurs autres artistes comme Akon, les Black Eyed Peas, Alicia Keys, Juanes, John Legend, Amadou et Mariam ... Tous les bénéfices de cet album seront reversés au profit de la campagne officielle de la coupe du monde FIFA 2010 : "20 Centres pour 2010". Le clip lui sera diffusé à la mi-mai en version standard et également en version 3D ! Shakira chantera ce titre à 3 reprises lors de cette Coupe du Monde, une première fois le 10 juin à Soweto lors du concert réunissant nombre dartistes, et dont les recettes seront reversées au projet « 20 centres pour 2010 » afin daider les communautés défavorisées. Une seconde fois lors de la cérémonie d'ouverture le 11 juin à Johannesburg et enfin à la cloture du mondial le 11 juillet. Elle fait partie du répertoire des soldats, mais aussi des groupes de jeunes comme les scouts, dans toute l'Afrique. Son rythme est entraînant et elle peut servir de chanson de marche.. Elle a été popularisée par le groupe camerounais Golden Sounds en 1986. Il eut un tel succès qu'il changea son nom en Zangaléwa. L'hymne officiel de la Coupe du monde de football en Afrique du Sud sera interprété par la Colombienne Shakira, qui avait déjà chanté lors de la cérémonie de clôture du Mondial, en 2006 en Allemagne. Shakira donnera le coup d'envoi de la Coupe du monde, au soir du 10 juin. La sulfureuse chanteuse colombienne a été choisie pour interpréter l'hymne officiel du Mondial, en duo avec un groupe sud-africain, Freshlyground. La chanson « Time for Africa » (« Waka Waka ») ouvrira donc le bal d'un immense concert donné au stade de Soweto, à la veille des premiers matchs. Cette chanson dont l'auteur n'est que le groupe camerounais Golden sounds (Zangalewa) de la garde présidentielle dans les années 80. Le morceau, choisi par la FIFA, sera autorisé au téléchargement dès le 26 avril, et figurera sur l'album officiel Listen Up : The Official 2010 FIFA World Cup Album. Il mélange des rythmes pop modernes et des percussions d'inspiration africaine. De nombreuses stars outre Shakira, ont été conviées à participer aux festivités. Les Black Eyed Peas, John Legend ou encore Alicia Keys devraient faire le déplacement. Ils laisseront tout de même la place à quelques grands artistes du continent, tels la Béninoise Angeline Kidjo, les Maliens Amadou et Mariam, ou encore les Sud-Africains Vusi mahlasela et the Parlotones ainsi que les rockeurs de Blk Jks. La chanteuse Shakira, qui s'est fait connaître, notamment, pour son provocant déhanché, avait déjà participé à la cérémonie de clôture de la Coupe du monde 2006 en Allemagne. Muslim Black slavery - Islam slave history of Black Africa
When doing research on African slavery I came across this video and was surprised about the slave trade in the Middle East, especially around North Africa. This explains the current genocide that is going on in Darfur and the Sudan. I could see the link with the past that this has been going on for 14 centuries. This person wrote this book about slavery in Islamic states. John Alembillah Alembillah Azumah The book is called Legacy of Arab-Islam in Africa: A Quest for Inter-Religious Dialogue. This book reveals the dark secret of Islam and slavery of black people in Africa and the history of how Arab Muslims went to war on and captured black men, women and children and turned them into slaves. While slavery only lasted 3 centuries in the west, it has lasted 14 centuries in the Middle East and exists today in many Muslim countries. He explains the book in this short video and it is very interesting. It explains that when Arab slave traders would raid black villages to the south they would kill the adults and kidnap the children. The boy children were indoctrinated into an Islamic army for the Arabs and the girls were taken as household and sex slaves. The reason their were not that many black descendants in the middle east is because the black male children were castrated so they could not reproduce. There were a few black Africans who grew up and because they curried favor with their masters were allowed to also be slave traders. A very interesting history of black African slave trade and the Muslim Arab world. People need to know this history, BUT instead sadly people will never get enough of watching Souljah Boy dance dude, 50 cent, old Tupac Shakur Rap videos, Britany Spears and other videos and never know the truth, especially white and black converts or reverts. This is part of the legacy of slavery that most African American people should know. Many black converts or reverts do not know this history before they converted believing that they were originally Muslim before they were sold into slavery. They were not. People should research their history before they convert or revert.
