Kendrick fait venir Chris Bolling, un policier de Washington, mais aussi un ami d’Erica pour qu’il soit son nouveau coéquipier. En réalité, Chris est là pour contrôler les faits et gestes d’Erica. Il découvre que le père Jack et elle se retrouvent en secret. Suite aux discours de Jack appelant à la résistance, Diana se rend au Vatican. Elle propose aux dirigeants de l’Eglise catholique d’envoyer des missionnaires sur les vaisseaux mères afin d’enseigner leur religion aux visiteurs.
