On October 18, 2011 an Iran Air Boeing 727 destined from Moscow makes an emergency landing with its nose hitting the runway in Tehran's Mehrabad airport with 117 people on board. The 37 year old aircraft landed safely with its front landing gear still retracted. No one was hurt thanks to its Captain Houshang Shahbazi and his crew. The latest incident sparked a new round of protests by Iranian civil aviators and citizens to the US sanctions on Iran's civil aviation industry. Captain Shahbazi has launched a campaign on the internet. In his personal website he has issued a declaration condemning the US sanctions on Iran's passenger aircraft. The captain has also invited people to vote for the eliminating such sanctions. In less than a month the campaign has been welcomed by more than 250 thousand people. Even some of the most recognized aviation institutions such as the international air travel association or the IATA have not been able to maintain impartiality from politics and the US influence. In 2011 the IATA suspended the process of ticket payments to namely Iran Air and Mahan because of US unilateral sanctions against Iran. This means that Iran air and Mahan passengers can not use their tickets when travelling to destinations where these civilian carriers do not fly. Experts say for nearly three decades the U.S. government and major U.S. companies have ignored international treaties and have put the lives of passengers on Iranian commercial airlines at risk. Elle entre dans le monde musical en 1997 à l'âge de 15 ans, où elle s'inscrivit pour une compétition de chant dans le programme télévisé ASAYAN. L'audition commença avec pas moins de 13 500 candidats jusqu'à ce que cela se réduise aux 5 derniers finalistes filles. Elle gagna la compétition avec un total de 802 157 appels en sa faveur. Après avoir gagné l'audition, elle décroche un contrat avec Sony Music Entertainement. C'est à ce moment là où il fut décidé qu'elle travaillera avec Komuro Tetsuya, sous son sous-label TRUE KiSS DISC. Suzuki commença sa carrière avec une façon différente d'écrire son nom, en hiragana : 鈴木あみ. Le 1er Juillet 1998, Suzuki publia son premier single, "love the island". Le single dispose d'une grande promotion; Sony a arrangé la musique avec le gouvernement japonais pour que la chanson puisse être utilisé pour la campagne Guam Island Summer '98 (pour aider le tourisme japonais à Guam). Le single commença à la 5ème position des charts Oricon avec pas moins de 250 000 copies. Les mois suivants, elle sortira trois autres singles, tout en continuer à gagner en popularité. Son deuxième single sortit en Septembre; "alone in my room" a également bénéficié de la même promotion que le premier single. Celui-ci atteignit la 3ème position des charts. En Octobre 1998, Suzuki devint la présentatrice de son premier show à la radio intitulé "Run ! Run ! Ami~Go ! ". Son troisième single "all night long", publié en Novembre, et son quatrième "white key", en Décembre, ont atteint tout les deux la deuxième place des charts. Tout deux se vendirent à plus de 500 000 exemplaires. A la fin de l'année elle remportera le trophée de la meilleure artiste au Japan Record Award. Le succès En 1999, Suzuki commença l'année avec son cinquième single en Février, avec un autre single et son premier album en Mars. Ce dernier est intitulé "SA" (initiale de son nom Suzuki Ami) et fut complètement écrit, produit et arrangé par Komuro Tetsuya et ses acolytes. L'album débute à la 1ère place des charts Oricon, se vendant à plus de 1, 058, 510 copies pour sa première semaine, un score honorable. L'album fut un tube à lui seul et resta dans les charts pendant 33 semaines pour un total de 1, 879, 430 copes. Quelque mois plus tard, la promotion commença pour son 7ème single "BE TOGETHER" (qui est une reprise d'un single du groupe de Komuro Tetsuya, TM Network). Pendant ce temps, une autre artiste débuta en même temps qu'Ami commença à devenir assez populaire, il s'agissait d'Hamasaki Ayumi. Les journaux les considéraient comme rivales, et les maisons de disques jouèrent sur ce terrain pour en tirer des avantages. Ainsi le 14 Juillet 1999, Suzuki publia son single "BE TOGETHER" alors qu'Ayumi publia son single "Boys & Girls". La première semaine, les deux artistes se battirent pour la première place et c'est finalement Ami qui la décrocha avec 317 610 copies. Mais lors de la seconde semaine d'exploitation, Ayumi reprit sa première place (et Ami la seconde). Au final "Boys & Girls" se vendit à plus de 1, 037, 950 copies tandis que "BE TOGETHER" 869, 860 copies. Malgré tout, le single devint à ce jour son plus populaire en terme de ventes. En 2000, il est annoncé qu'elle sortira deux albums pour son 18ème anniversaire. Le premier sortira le jour de son anniversaire; "infinity eighteen vol. 1". L'album atteignit la première place des charts et contient ses 4 derniers singles à succès. L'album se vendit à 825, 130 exemplaires la première semaine et après quatre semaine atteignit le million. Deux mois plus tard, en Avril 2000, Suzuki sort un nouveau single "THANK YOU 4 EVERY DAY EVERY BODY". Le single fit un énième succès jusqu'à atteindre la première place des charts à l'Oricon. Quelque semaines plus tard, c'est au tour du troisième album de voir le jour "INFINITY EIGHTEEN Vol. 2". L'album fit moins bien que le premier mais tout de même un score honorable. L'album se plaça 2ème à l'Oricon et se vendit moitié moins que son prédécesseur. Suzuki commença à devenir plus mature comme artiste et veut prendre part à la production de ses musiques. Pour son dixième single, "Reality / Dancin' in Hio-Hop" elle co-écrivit les paroles avec Mitsuko et Tetsuya Komuro. Il s'agira là du dernier single sous Sony Music Entertainment. Bannie ? En Septembre 2000, Suzuki Ami a porté plainte contre son agence AG Communications. Elle a fait cela afin d'en finir avec son contrat avec eux car le président, Yamada Eiji avait été impliqué dans une évasion fiscale. Suzuki et ses parents ont estimés que le dépôt de plainte était la meilleure chose à faire pour rompre son contrat car un scandale aurait eut un impact négatif sur la carrière de leur fille. Toutefois, AG Communications n'a pas voulu rompre le contrat avec Suzuki car elle était à l'apogée de sa carrière. Bien que les tribunaux ont donnés raisons à Suzuki Ami, sa carrière était belle et bien ruiné. Plus tard, la famille Suzuki a voulu accéder aux dossiers financiers d'AG Communications afin de déterminer si l'entreprise avec correctement indémniser leur fille (pour les apparitions télévisés, séances photos, magazines, publicités etc. ). AG Communications a refusé de révéler ces informations; ainsi la famille Suzuki est retourné au tribunal, mais ils ont rejeté leur demande. Même si Suzuki était libre de son contrat, personne ne voulait avoir affaire à elle. Ils avaient peur de représailles par rapport à ses plaintes. À l'apogée de sa carrière, Suzuki est devenue bannie du monde médiatique. La seule sortie de Suzuki pendant cette période fut un best of, "FUN for FAN". Sony Music Entertainement, cependant, n'a pas abandonné si vite Ami - son contrat prenait fin en Décembre 2004 (Suzuki et Sony Music avait négocié la résiliation de son contrat antérieurement, qui avait été mutuellement convenue que le label ne pouvait plus promouvoir sa musique car cela lui infligerait une publicité négative). En attendant il y a eut quelque litiges juridiques concernant les droits d'auteurs des chansons qu'elle avait écrit, mais les deux parties ont finalement établie un accord à l'amiable en Novembre 2003. Le retour En 2004, Suzuki recommença à sortir de la musique. Durant ce temps, elle publia ses oeuvres sous son propre label indépendant Amity. Son premier single indie "Tsuyoi Kizuna" fut publié en Juillet 2004 avec un photobook. C'était là le premier single de la miss en presque 4 ans. Quelque mois plus tard, Suzuki sortit un second single "FOREVER LOVE". Le single fit un score correct pour un indépendant. Il atteignit la 21ème place et la première place des charts indies. Le 1er Janvier 2005, Max Matsuura d'avex trax lui offrira une place dans sa compagnie. Cette dernière accepta et un nouveau site officiel voit le jour et un premier single et d'ores-et-déjà annoncé "Hopeful". Le single était prévu pour être publié en Février mais fut annulé. La chanson est finalement mise au rebut et devint la première musique téléchargeable exclusivement en digital. Après qu'"Hopeful" soit annulé, Suzuki annonça un autre single "Delightful" qui était attendu pour le 24 Mars 2005. Il signe son retour dans la musique mais aussi un changement dans son domaine musical qui est plus orienté "dance"/"trance". Par ailleurs la musique a été produite par un allemand, Axel Konrad. Le single atteignit la 3ème place des charts Oricon et fit même son apparition dans la liste des 100 meilleures ventes de l'année (2005). Après avoir sortie deux autres singles : "Eventful" et "Negaigoto" elle publia son premier album sous avex (et son premier album en 5 ans), "AROUND THE WORLD". L'album fut publié en même temps que le single éponyme limité à 10, 000 copies. Elle enchainera avec une tournée de 3 dates AROUND THE WORLD ~LIVE HOUSE TOUR 2005~ fin Octobre à Zepp Tokyo, Nanba Hatch et Zepp Nagoya. Suzuki a fait également sa première apparition au festival d'été d'avex trax, le a-nation aux côtés de son ancienne rivale Hamasaki Ayumi. Suzuki fini l'année 2005 par un single de Noël intitulé "Little Crystal". Son premier single de 2006 vint peu de temps après le 8 Février. Son 21ème single "Fantastic" a été utilisé comme opening thème de l'anime Black Jack. Le single se vendit modérément se plaçant 14ème. A partir de ce moment, les ventes et les places des singles d'Ami ne cesseront de chuter. Un mois plus tard, elle publie son premier album de remix "AMIx WORLD" entrant à la 83ème place. "Alright ! " est le nom de son single qui sortira en Mai (débutant à la 17ème place). En Juillet Suzuki collabore avec l'étoile montante d'avex trax, Otsuka Ai. Cette dernière lui compose son 23ème single "Like a Love ? ". Malgré cette collaboration, le single se pointa qu'à la 23ème place des charts Oricon. Après avoir interprétée plusieurs chansons au a-nation '06, elle mit sa carrière en suspend pendant 6 mois. Elle profita de ce temps pour changer de style musicale. Ce n'est que le 9 Février 2006 où elle célébra ses 25 ans qu'elle décida de réserver à ses fans un concert spécial sobrement nommé "Birthday Live". Périodes des collaborations Plus tard en Février, Ami sortira trois singles, un par mois. Il s'agira d'un projet de collaboration qu'elle a mis en place où chaque single sera produit par un autre artiste qu'elle a choisie. Le premier des trois est produti par le groupe de Shibuya-Kei Buffalo Daughter et est intitulé "O. K. Funky God". Le concept n'a pas été bien reçu, et les trois singles se vendirent mal. Le seul à atteindre le top 40 des charts fut sa collaboration avec Kirinji, "Sore mo Kitto Shiawase". Les trois singles se vendirent à moins de 4 000 copies. Avec pas moins de 7 singles, il était temps de sortir un nouvel album. Alors que les trois précédents sont considérés comme des collaborations prestigieuses ("joints releases"), il a été décidé que l'album entier en sera remplie. Tous les autres singles précédant les 3 derniers ont été rebaptisés en "AMI SUZUKI joins... " avec le nom du compositeur (exemple : AMI SUZUKI joins Otsuka Ai pour "Like a Love ? "). Son cinquième album "CONNETTA" voit le jour le 21 Mars 2007. Dans la lignée de ses derniers singles, l'album a du mal à se vendre. Il récolte seulement la 26ème place comparé à son dernier qui était à la 5ème place des charts. Suzuki n'en démord pas et continue dans son projet de collaboration. En Août 2007, elle publia son 27ème single, "FREE FREE / SUPER MUSIC MAKER". Le single a été écrit et produit entièrement par Nakata Yasutaka, connu essentiellement pour son travail pour Perfume, MEG ou son groupe capsule. Le single fit un meilleur score que ses prédécesseurs avec 8 000 exemplaires vendues. Suzuki a été choisie pour avoir le premier rôle dans le film d'horreur/comique XX Cross qui est attendue pour Novembre 2007. Pour le film elle fit une adaptation japonaise de la chanson "Potential Breakup Song" d'Aly & AJ avec les deux intéressées. En utilisant la chanson "Bitter... " comme piste promotionnelle, Suzuki publia son sixième album studio "DOLCE" le 6 Février 2008 (trois jours avant son 26ème anniversaire). L'album suit le même concept que "CONNETTA" avec une palette d'artiste ayant collaboré avec la miss. 10ème anniversaire Le 1er Juillet 2008, Suzuki fêta son dixième anniversaire dans le monde de la musique. Le lendemain, elle publia son 29ème single "ONE". Ce dernier est représentatif de beaucoup de choses pour elle : son 10ème anniversaire, son retour solo (sans projet de collaboration) et son second single avec Nakata Yasutaka comme producteur. Elle fêta dignement ces choses avec le concert au club de Shibuya avec Nakata Yasutaka comme DJ. En Septembre, elle publia un nouveau single "can't stop the DISCO". Durant cette période, elle prit part au projet musicale d'avex, qui avait pour but de célébrer le 20ème anniversaire du label. Le 9 Septembre 2008, Suzuki annonça son dixième album entièrement produit par Nakata Yasutaka. Initialement prévu pour être intitulé "TEN", il changea de nom pour "Supreme Show" (avec "TEN" comme une chanson inédite de l'album). Burning buildings, hurtling rocks, makeshift barricades and panicked shouting all paint a frightening picture of how anarchic Egypt has become in recent days. Whilst many took to the second round poles, hundreds of protesters staged a sit-in outside the cabinet building, demanding the removal of the military council. According to them, the elections only create the facade of civilian rule whilst the military continue to wield power. "The seeds that are planted need to be on fertile land, not on dirty ground." Only a couple of hours after the polling centres closed, their concerns became painfully apparent as state security forces attacked the protesters. Bombarding them with a barrage of rocks, glass bottles and even live ammunition, several people were killed. Since the first revolution in Tahir Square army attacks have rarely deflated the mood of popular protest, however. Street clinics pop up to treat the wounded and women support the battle by collecting rocks and running the ammunition to men on the front line.
