Après cela, le groupe devint de plus en plus populaire. En 1996, ils atteignent pour la première fois, la première place des charts avec leur troisième album BEAT out! , et, la même année, leur quatrième album BELOVED fut le premier à se vendre à plus d'un million d'exemplaires. Chacun de ses albums s'est vendu à plus de deux millions d'exemplaires. 1999 fut l'année où GLAY joua pour la première au Dome Tour, "GLAY DOME TOUR "pure soul" 1999", ils furent d'ailleurs les premiers à faire cinq date de concerts dans cette grande salle. La tournée eut un total de 15 performances attirant pas moins de 750 000 personnes. Leur 16ème single Winter, again atteignit la deuxième place des charts de l'année et gagna le grand prix aux "41st Japan Record Awards". GLAY décrocha alors deux records en 1999, leur vidéo single "SURIVAL" se vendit à 900 copies (meilleur vente de tous les temps pour ce type de support), ainsi que le concert "GLAY EXPO '99 ~ SUVIVAL" qui attira pas moins de 200 000 personnes, un record pour un groupe seul au Japon. A la fin de l'année, GLAY joua au concert The Millennium Eve - A Christmas Present, pour les personnes qui aiment vivre beaucoup, aux côtés de LUNA SEA le 23 Décembre, puis au "GLAY Countdown Live in Messe "Come Together"", le 31 Décembre. En 2004 GLAY célébra leur 10ème anniversaire en tant que groupe major à l'EXPO 2004, où était présent pas moins de 100 000 spectateurs. Aucuns détails n'ont été dévoilés, mais il fut reportés qu'ils n'avaient plus les droits sur leurs musiques et que le contrat allaient se terminer avec leurs maisons de disque Unlimited Records. Le groupe n'a donc pas pu sortir de nouveaux matériels cette année. La seule publication fut le single SCREAM en collaboration avec le groupe EXILE, qui fut publié sous le label d'EXILE. Le groupe poursuivit la compagnie en justice en 2007, et ce n'est que le 22 Octobre 2009, que la justice trancha et donna raison au groupe. Unlimited Records pour s'être attribué pas moins de 147 musiques du groupe a du payer plus de 670 millions de yens pour droits d'auteurs et frais impayés. Début 2006, toujours sans label, ils produisirent leur tournée "ROCK'N'ROLL SWINDLE 2006". Puis, ils signèrent avec Capitol Records et publièrenet leurs trois singles suivants, G4, Natuoto / Hen na Yume ~THOUSAND DREAMS~ et ANSWER. Le dernier fut une collaboration avec le chanteur Himuro Kyosuke. Ils furent également un concert "KYOSUKE HIMURO + GLAY SWING ADDICTION 2006" et une tournée "GLAY TOUR 2006 ROCK'N'ROLL SWINDLE~Re-birth~", à la fin de l'année. En Janvier 2007, le groupe sortit son single 100 Man Kai no KISS et une semaine plus tard leur neuvième album original LOVE IS BEAUTIFUL qui atteignit la première position des charts malgré des ventes décevantes comparé à leurs précédents travaux. Le 4 Avril, ils publièrent leur single Kodou, qui fut le thème du film Taitei no Ken. En Août 2008, GLAY donna pour la première un concert aux États-Unis. Le "GLAY VERB tour 2008 in U. S. " eut lieu à The Fillmore, à San Francisco, le 12 Août et à The Houde of Blues, à Los Angeles le 15 et 16 Août 2008. En 2009, GLAY célebra leur 15 ans depuis la sortie de leur premier single "RAIN". Cette anniversaire se fit dans un premier temps avec la publication d'un single de 6 musiques SAY YOUR DREAM le 4 Mars 2009. Le titre éponyme dure pas moins de 13 minutes. Takuro a composé cette musique comme le message qu'il voulait livré s'il était sur le point de mourir, une chanson qui lui a prit pas moins de sept années pour compléter.
