Your administrations support of indefinite detention laws would cause the original 1775 revolutionaries to point their muskets at you -- a far more virulent threat than the British against our forefathers, whose conceptions were mild in comparison. To me one of the most horrendous facts is that Libya was used as an advertisement for weapons manufacturers. Each NATO member took turns testing its readiness and weapons systems. Some quick facts: 1) Under Gadaffi -- Libyan life expectancy rose from 42 in 1969 to 72. Libyans had the highest education level in Africa. There was no hunger, there were no homeless. Libya was building more and more self reliance. It had a vastly healthier financial position than the powers that invaded it. Libya's entire armed forces ICC's Ocampo to Libya breaks own mandate, recommends the TNC investigate itself Why can't we let the atrocities commited in Libya be investigated by the new Libyan Authority? Because of massive massive conflict of interest The people who allied with NATO in Libya now have possession of 10 trillion dollars worth of oil, natural gas and a 400 year supply of pure ice age water buried in the desert. If someone offered you a nice share in 10 trillion dollars' worth of natural resources to betray your country -- many people would do it. First of all the ICC, once it has issued a warrant, cannot recall it, and cannot permit trial any where other than the Hague. Second, the people who collaborated with NATO to overthrow the Libyan Govt -- are sitting on the largest and poorest defended treasure chest on the planet. Libya's armed forces were about the same size as the NYC PD -- around 30,000 -- we made this into a good vs evil narrative -- when in fact it was much more complex than that -- the old government was not evil and the new government is not good. There are many shades of gray. The truth can not be told -- when a small group of people who through collaborating with the very powers that have held Libya in bondage before its independence -- are able to seize control of 10 trillion dollars. It is like putting the burglar in charge of investigating the burglary -- not surprisingly -- the burgler will conclude that the property owners should never have owned their property -- and "asked for it" Why did we put Islamic Militants in charge of Libya? What do you need to do: 1. No investigations of war crimes in Libya can be done with real hopes of truth from belligerants in the conflict. 2. Be aware that if the NATO sponsored TNC bites their masters hand -- Clinton can tell them -- we put you in - and we can take you out -- what group is more vulnerable to a Western Media blitz claiming "we helped the Libyans liberate themselves -- unfortunately -- extremists have seized the government -- we now have to go back in -- and help liberate them again. How easy to convince the people of the West to support another intervention -- with Al Qaeda heavily involved in the actual fighters in Libya -- who gained every inch of ground -- through massive NATO Aerial drone and special forces attacks , over 12,000 attacks, as well as Qatar proudly stating they had troops with every single armed group in Libya. 3. Why is the only surviving male heir of Gadaffi being illegally held in Libya,rather than surrendered to the ICC? Because his trial would expose that actually there is a lot of dirt on many peoples hands in transferring the largest treasure chest -- into hands picked by the West. 4. This is illegal. The ICC cannot allow Libya to try Saif. Libya, Luis Ocampo, the ICC & the founding of Americans who aren't (self righteous) Assholes - November 26, 2011 This piece is the 3rd or 4th I have done on the ICC and Luis Moreno OCampo. I have decided to found Americans who aren't assholes. I encourage the founding of French who aren't assholes, Britons who aren't assholes etc. With 2 central tenets -1) That no bullet be fired against any country by any country whose citizens cannot find the country on a map. And 2) Conflict of Interest. No commercial relation can be established for 5 years after the last bullet is fired. No Disaster Capitalism. And 3) No Media outlet have any interest In any company contracting to the militaries involved. Until there are investigations and trials against the criminals who have pillaged killed and "liberated" that is to say uprooted so many. When one thinks of "Regime Change". On this thanksgiving I am thankful that the whole world is not yet crushed under the boot of a smug self righteous elite of ultra wealthy gangsters such as Hillary Clinton and Susan Rice and Barack Obama and David Cameron and Nikolas Sarkozy. I will not evaluate Russia for the moment since they have been largely at peace since 1980. They have not bombed other countries. I have done a couple of pieces on Luis Ocampo and the ICC. And on putting Clinton Rasmussen and their whole gang on trial for Crimes Against humanity for unnecessarily bombing Libya 10,000 times. A country that has commited far far less acts of state violence than the UK France or the US. Lockerbie was a tiny drop in the bucket compared to Iraq alone. And we have on our heads the arming of the Contras in Nicaragua -- the attemted coup in Venezuela and Bolivia, the death of a million in Iraq and the destruction of its literacy rate. Upon reviewing the ICC warrants against Libya: I realized that in the press of all these deaths in Libya I had overlooked a few very problematic issues about the ICC warrants. Libya is not a signatory to the ICC! SuperPower Gangsterism & Impunity: The ICC can only issue warrants against signatories -- OR cases referred by the Security Council. This means that the permanent members -- can essentially illegalize and invade countries -- in other words strip countries of their sovereignty -- unless they are permanent members of the UN. Would this function be allowable if the countries withdrew entirely from the U.N. itself? The groups that leveled charges against Gada The troubling legality of the ICC's arrest warrants for Gadaffi To date, the Court has opened investigations into seven situations: the Democratic Republic of the Congo; Uganda; the Central African Republic; Darfur, Sudan; the Republic of Kenya; the Libyan Arab Jamahiriya and the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire.[25][26] Of these seven, three were referred to the Court by the states parties (Uganda, Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Central African Republic), two were referred by the United Nations Security Council (Darfur and Libya) and two were begun proprio motu by the Prosecutor (Kenya and Côte d'Ivoire).
