“Best Riad with the Best People in Marrakech” was just at this lovely Riad for my first visit to Marrakech and it was beyond amazing. Coming in, you are instantly greeted by the warmest people who make you feel right at home. The Riad is tucked away from the chaos of the Old Town but is in the perfect location; we didn't drive anywhere the three days we were in town (we just walked, and walked, and walked). The rooms are lovely; clean and very beautifully decorated with awesome bathrooms and great showers! There is a lovely lobby for late night chess games and three levels of terraces for outdoor teas, drinks, etc. At night, the Riad was quiet and we slept so well : ) Eat lots here, as the food is delicious and home-made...also very reasonably priced! Breakfast (included) was served every morning and was a wonderful mix of european croissants, moroccan bread, and awesome coffee...all served outside overlooking the rooftops of Marrakech. Dinners were extra but well worth the money as the food was authentic and served in a relaxed atmosphere making it feel like you were really at home, not in a hotel. The owner and staff are wonderful...they have great advice for shopping, spas, etc and will help you find anything. We were here for New Year's Eve and the party was unforgettable. I cannot say enough wonderful things; Riad Dar Najat made Marrakech the trip of a lifetime. Stay here!!!!

Avec l'arrivée de Clapton, les Yardbirds commencent à véritablement décoller. Petit groupe de rock and roll comme tant d'autres, très influencé par le blues, ils ne jouent aucune composition personnelle, se limitant à des morceaux de blues issus des catalogues Chess, Checker ou Vee-Jay. Succédant aux Rolling Stones comme groupe résident du légendaire Crawdaddy Club de Richmond, ils deviennent un groupe culte parmi les jeunes Anglais branchés fans de blues. De nombreux titres d'épisodes font références aux échecs, tels ZugZwang, Isolated Pawn ou Sicilian Defense. Les échecs symbolisent la stratégie des adversaires, et sont une parabole de la guerre qui fait rage. On peut voir Alex Row y jouer plusieurs fois au cours de l'anime. Le "Immelman Turn" (virage Immelman) que pratique Claus à de nombreuses reprises fait référence à Max Immelmann, un as de la première guerre mondiale. Celui-ci était devenu célèbre par cette manœuvre acrobatique. Il est mort en 1916. Impressionné par les talents de pilote de Claus, Dio le surnomme "Immelman". Le nom du père de Claus, Hamilcal Valca, est une référence au général Carthaginois Hamilcar Barca père de Hannibal Barca. Il est dit dans un entretien placé dans le livre d'art de Last Exile "Aerial Log" que Dio Eraclea a été repêché par un navire de passage de la Guilde après être tombé de son vanship dans le dernier épisode de la série. En outre, il existe une scène dépeinte dans la série d'illustrations officielles montrant Claus, Lavie, et leurs amis qui vivent à la ferme, tournant et souriant à une personne qui se trouve dans le cadre. Bien que tout ce qui peut être vu est un pied et une main qui est agité, l'individu semble porter l'uniforme de la guilde de Dio. Marlena Shaw - Feel like making love

Marlena Shaw (née Marlina Burgess en 1942 à New Rochelle, NY) est une chanteuse américaine de jazz, soul et disco. Elle est découverte par Chess Records en 1966. Elle sort son premier album sous le label Cadet Records (filiale de Chess Records). En 1972, elle passe chez Blue Note Records et devient la première femme à signer sur ce label. Elle enregistre un des plus gros tube pendant la période disco : Touch Me In The Morning chez Columbia Records. Marlena Shaw est toujours en activité. En 2001 et 2007, elle participe au North Sea Jazz Festival aux Pays-Bas.

Chuck Berry//Memphis

Désigné comme 'le père du rock'n' roll' par de nombreux admirateurs, Chuck Berry a influencé de nombreux artistes et a vu son répertoire souvent repris. C'est grâce à ses parents, choristes pendant l'office dans une petite église du Missouri, que le jeune homme découvre la musique. Avec comme idole Nat King Cole, il commence à apprendre la guitare pour jouer les titres qui passent à la radio. Sous l'égide de Ira Harris, son ami et professeur, Chuck Berry s'invente un style musical qui lui est propre. L'artiste se nourrit de différentes influences allant du blues à la country. A partir de 1952, il joue de la guitare, chante avec plusieurs groupes éphémères et apprend le métier de la scène en se forgeant une gestuelle particulière. On se souvient de son duckwalk, qui consiste à jouer de la guitare en imitant une danseuse de french cancan souffrant d'arthrose. En 1955, le chanteur signe avec le label Chess Records et son premier titre 'Maybellene' se place à la cinquième position dans les charts. Sa carrière lancée, cette bête de scène à la voix claire et à la diction précise enchaîne les tubes : 'Roll Over Beethoven', 'Sweet Little Sixteen', 'Johnny B. Goode', 'Rock'n' Roll Music', 'School Days', 'No Particular Place To Go', 'Carol', 'You Never Can Tell', etc. Poursuivi puis emprisonné pour des affaires de moeurs - détournement de mineurs et voyeurisme - la vie privée du chanteur est une histoire moins glorieuse. Icône légendaire qui a établi le rock'n' roll comme genre musical, Chuck Berry a posé les fondations sur lesquelles celui-ci s'est développé pendant près d'un demi-siècle.
