World Champion Kevin Langeree injures himself

What an upset for all who were on the beach this afternoon in Sotavento, Fuerteventura while watching the men’s freestyle double elimination final heat between Australian rider Andy Yates (Slingshot, AUS) and Kevin Langeree (Naish, NED). 22-year old Matt Wilkinson (AUS) wins the O'Neill Cold Water Classic California ahead of Tonino Benson (HAW) in an action packed day. This is Matt's first ever victory at a QS event! Matt had earlier disappointed local crowds who were braving the afternoon rain to support their local hero, Nat Young, by defeating him in the semi finals. Nat Young has three titles in a row here at this event: once CWC winner, and twice junior winner. But this year it was not to be. In an emotional morning, Shaun Cansdell came down to watch the heat of Dion Atkinson - the one man standing in the way of him and his biggest victory. Surrounded by friends Shaun watched anxiously as Dion Atkinson was beaten by eventual winner Matt Wilkinson. Surf : RIP Sion Milosky

Tragedy struck the surfing world this evening with the news that Hawaiian big-wave surfer Sion Milosky has passed away. According to reports, Milosky lost his life while surfing 25-foot waves at Mavericks this afternoon. Although details of the incident have yet to be confirmed, our hearts go out to the family and friends of the big-wave legend.

"Libertango" from Astor Piazzolla (1974) Matthew McAllister is joined onstage at the 6th International Guitar Festival in Arequipa Peru (August 2008) by Alberto Faraggi, Felipe Carvajal & Sebastien Vachez. Probably the first ever guitar quartet to have members from Scotland, France, Costa Rica & Chile ! The quartet was formed over a few glasses of wine one afternoon during the festival and a performance of Libertango was included at the end of the final night concert !
