These are the words of Dr. David de Sola Pool's D-Day prayer:

[Due to technical diificulties the first words of the rabbi cannot be heared]

"[inaudible] In this hour [of?] enterribleness, but not in fear, not in doubt. For we know the dre - this dreaded D-Day is the dawning hour of doom for the demonic destroyers, the dawn of the day of destruction for those who have wrought devastation on millions of pitiful men and women and little children. Physically armed as are our sons and brothers flocking to the invasion and fighting as they are, men with (desperate?). Yet we know that their strongest armor is the rightness of their cause of liberation, justice and brotherhood. And therefore we turn to Thee as the Gxd of battles, certain of the outcome of this gigantic and bitter conflict, strengthen Thou our beloved warriors with clear conscience and with a high sense of dedication so that with unshakeable faith in the justice of their cause, they may go forward consecrated not to hatred of men but to the love of mankind and to the triumph of liberty over tyranny. Give them the strength to wage to utter victory this final battle against the blasfemous of Thy Name. May they rapidly and utterly overcome the ruthless oppressor and thereby bring freedom and life to lands that have been crushed, to peoples that have been robbed, unspeakable outraged and tortured. And make us, oh Lord, in this land that smiles in peace, make us worthy of their heroism, their hardship, their sacrifice, so that when, with Thy Blessing, they come back to us, in live, and injured in body and soul, we and they may work together to build in peace, abiding peace, for all Thy children."
