Grief (s'en aller)

This is the very first song I composed (originally in French, under the title "S'en aller"), when I was 16, after having lived numerous unbearable trials, during too many years. This song gave me the chance to partly break the chains with them, as well as the poignant past which was related to this long, endless and crucial period. Comments : Dramatic and well organized /reviewed by walkhome from Charlotte, North Carolina This song has such dynamics, vocally and instrumentally - that it demands your attention. I think that the piano work is far beyond anything I've heard here. It's technically flawless and it conveys the emotion of the song with the vocal in tow. Reviewed by walkhome from Charlotte, North Carolina Great Piece / reviewed by: adamblue from Olathe, Kansas Luckily I'm a producer who has recorded many artists in the "theatre" category and can relate to this track. This is a great piece of songwriting and production. Vocals: I'm guessing that the vocals and the piano were recorded together in a solid pass through of the track, in contrast to the method of "one line at a time" used by most vocalists. This is truly a commendable feat and deserves bonus points. The vocals contain excellent inflections and show both power and restraint in the appropriate sections of the piece. Piano: Please thank the accompanist on the piano for giving me a great gift of ivory magic. The pianist is comparable to (and possibly is) one of the hand picked accompanists by the great Jason Robert Brown, showing both prowess and perfect timing throughout the piece. Many opportunities should be considered here as the great theatres of Broadway and London are always in need of great compositions such as this. Thank you and best wishes. AB   Grief (s'en aller) How to grieve When tears are shed Still believe When faith is dead Just a word Through tears and rain Makes a bird Encaged in pain What a life This is to live Full of strife And wounds to give No more dreams Of love to find Burning streams Of tears behind How to grope Through one's disgrace How to cope Just to efface Haunting face In every place In every space To control The pain and pride To console The grief inside If at last The veil could fall On a past Without recall Where to hide When inside Life has died
