Biographie :
Né à Tunis , diplômé en cinéma spécialisation réalisation et scénario de l'université de Tunis. À son passage à Paris, il est formé en réalisation cinématographique à l'école supérieure d'études cinématographiques.
Auteur d'un moyen-métrage de fiction « Li-La », film en noir et blanc en hommage à la nouvelle vague, et réalisé entre Paris et Tunis. Il a aussi réalisé deux films en 16mm, «Instant coupable » et « The Graduate ».
Poète populaire en Tunisie grâce à ses poèmes en dialectal tunisien, Mehdi Hmili est aussi auteur d'un roman en arabe
« Le cheval sur la plaine » et de plusieurs critiques littéraires sur Samuel Beckett et Antonin Artaud.
Il prépare le tournage de son premier long-métrage « Hourya » , un film d'anticipation en noir et blanc produit par Polimovie International Pictures.
Il travaille actuellement sur l'adaptation cinématographique du roman événement « Les derniers juifs d'Alexandrie », avec l'auteur du roman égyptien.
Il vit et travaille entre Paris, Tunis et Le Caire.

درس الإخراج السينمائي في تونس و تخرج من المعهد العالي للسينما في باريس. ممثل, سيناريست و مخرج شاب متحصل على جوائز عديدة. لعب عدة أدوار في المسرح والسينما.
تولى ايضا اخراج فيلمين 16مم في فرنسا ، "لحظة مذنب" و "المتفوق" فيهما نقد لوضعية المسلمين في فرنسا و فيلم "ليلة"، , صور في تونس و باريس و يحكي بشاعرية عن صعوبة فهم العلاقات الانسانية. وهو أيضا شاعر شعبي معروف في تونس بقصائده و كتاباته الساخرة باللهجة التونسية. كتب أيضا رواية باللغة العربية ، "الحصان على السهل".
يحضر حاليا لتصوير فيلمه الروائي الأول "حورية"، و هو فيلم من انتاج تونسي ايطالي مشترك يحكي عن قصة حب في مدينة مجهولة اياما قبل نهاية العالم. من مشاريعه المستقبلية فيلم 'ليبرو' و فيلم 'آخر يهود إسكندرية'، فيلم من إنتاج فرنسي سويسري تدور أحداثه في مدينة الاسكندرية خلال الحرب العالمية الثانية.
Biography :
He studied film directing in Tunisia and graduated from the Higher Institute of Cinema in Paris. He is an actor, writer and director obtained several awards ans played several roles in theater and films including the movie "White wings of death", winning awards in film festivals and was nominated for the days of European cinema.
He has also directed two films in 16 mm in France, "A moment of guilty" and "Superior" in which criticism of the status of Muslims in France, and the movie "Li-La", a black and white drama about the difficulty of understanding the human
relations .
Mehdi Hmili is also a popular poet, well known in Tunisia with his satirical writings in Tunisian dialect.
He also wrote a novel in Arabic, "The horse on the plain."
He is currently attending to shoot, his first feature film "Hourya" a Black and White drama , produced by Polimovie International Pictures.
He lives and works between Paris, Cairo and Tunis.
